The Twin Cities Solar Farm is part of The Roadmap to Solar Minnesota, a larger strategic plan to create a robust, thriving solar industry in Minnesota.
Conceived and developed by Ralph Jacobson, Owner and CEO of Innovative Power Systems (IPS Solar), both the Twin Cities Solar Farm and it's larger vision, The Roadmap to Solar Minnesota have the potential to create some of the most significant advances in sustainable community development in the U.S. and the world - right here in our own back yard.
Ralph Jacobson, CEO and Owner, IPS Solar
IPS Solar is a design / build contractor specializing in solar energy systems that give home and business owners the power to produce their own heat and electricity.
IPS Solar has designed and installed hundreds of solar energy systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the surrounding areas since 1991, making IPS a Midwest leader in solar energy for over 16 years.
Ralph is a certified solar installer and energy auditor with over twenty-five years experience as a building contractor.
He is certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) for both solar electric and solar thermal systems - one of only a few installers in Minnesota and Wisconsin that can make that claim.
Ralph has experience with a variety of large commercial solar electric projects that have required extensive and detailed attention to the NEC code, article 690.
He is also the co-creator and general contractor for the Southeast Como “Sign Me Up for Solar” project, the first community solar thermal project in the Minneapolis Saint Paul area.
He has a B.S. in Materials Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
